Geneva Motor Show 2012
Date Listed: 14/02/2012

The Geneva Motor show in March has already been subject to much attention this year due to the exciting vehicles rumoured to be announced, the first of which being a possible rival to the Nissan Juke which will be presented by SsangYong.
Industry experts suggest that SsangYong’s new compact crossovers styling is inspired by the XIV-1 concept which made its debut last year at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The XIV received a very positive reaction from the automotive press and audience alike. The XIV displayed pillar-less barn doors however the new vehicle is expected to possess more of a practical layout. Pricing for the new model is likely to start at £14,000 – to compete with the cheapest Nissan Juke vehicle price.
The new model is due to appear in dealers in 2013 as part of the South Korean manufacturer’s move to expand into Europe. Whatcar? has reported that SsangYong is planning to unveil four new models by 2015, each to rival a major competitor. No further details have been provided thus far however the Geneva Motor show is expected to see SsangYong release an official statement.
Nissan is also promising to exhibit a surprise model at the event, experts have been left to wonder what this vehicle could be as no official word from Nissan has been released.
Toyota meanwhile has announced that the Toyota FT-Bh city car will make its debut at the show, the FT-Bh concept is a hybrid city car, but like SsangYong and Nissan little details have been released about Toyota’s new model. Additionally Toyota will show its diji concept which made its debut at Tokyo last year.
