Used Japanese cars named most reliable

Date Listed: 03/08/2012

Used Japanese cars are the most reliable in the UK, according a survey conducted by Whatcar? and Warranty Direct. The report surveyed the Warranty Direct Policies of 50,000 motorists and car insurance policy holders with cars aged between three and ten years old.

Honda, Toyota and Lexus were amongst the marquees at the top of the list, with Honda on top for the seventh consecutive year; the only non Asian car featured in the top ten was Chevrolet. In what may come as a surprise to some consumers, the survey showed that the more expensive brands were the likeliest to suffer a fault; many premium brands sat at the bottom of the table.

According to Whatcar? the Honda CR-V has just a one in ten chance of suffering a breakdown in any given 12-month period. Particularly in times of recession, reliability is one of the most important factors to motorists; this survey is a testament to why Japanese cars are so popular in the UK.
